🛠️ DevLog Entry – March 1, 2025

Lots of writing. I thought coding would be about code. But NNOOOOOOOooooo….

Back to Coding – Ethics & Emotion System

That being said, I am excited to be done with the wiki and getting back into writing actual code. I am working on the ethics/emotion system at this point. The philosophy is that our emotions are abstract representations of our ethical evaluations of ourselves and others.

So if we have a rule set and those around us fail to live up to that rule set, that causes us to feel bad. Which kind of makes sense, and various philosophers acknowledge the role our emotions play when making moral choices.

4d4 Updates – Proof Prints & Kickstarter

4d4 stuff: Got some more proof prints sent to me as marketing material. I have a small team of people, I think, that are willing to see this become something. South Dakota has a much smaller talent pool than say, Beijing or Chicago. But, the talent that is here is yearning to do cool stuff! Also, the cost of living is super small, which rocks!

I'm doing a Kickstarter by the end of the month, but hopefully in 2ish weeks. I want to raise about $30k for the project. Not that I need money, but other people seem to like the stuff very much! Weird!

I want:

I can do all of this stuff myself, but I have so many things I want to get done! If it's just me, this is a 4-6 month project. Even if I had one other person, I could get this done in 1-2 months. Not that more people would decrease that, but I feel it would increase the product quality.

Writing – Green Folk Progress

Writing update: Green Folk hit 10k words today.

Green Folk will be the continuation of the Folks series, which starts with Hole Folk. Hole Folk is an examination of hobbit and hobbit society and their struggles with immigration. It asks: Which is better, progressiveness or traditionalism?

I tried to give both sides a fair shake, and just between you and me, I think both sides are dumb as FFFF….. BUT, there are a lot of good questions there, as long as you don’t just set up straw men.

Green Folk is going to be my attempt to look at unchecked consumption. A look into the Goblin city of Progress, their Kafkaesque ‘utopia’ of work, blood, rules, and more blood-rules—which I call brools!
